Oporto is known as the Capital City of the North of Portugal. It is the city that named Portugal - very early (c. 200 BC) which was designated by Portus, becoming later on the Portucalense’s capital or Portucale (The Kingdom which named Portugal). Overlooking the Douro River, Oporto is therefore one of the oldest cities and one of the oldest names in the world.
